Synopsis:

This issue begins with Cyclops being in prison. He is worried that Angel will not reach the Avengers in time to save the X-Men so he uses all of his strength to break free of his bindings.

Scott then goes off to rescue his teammates, but is forced to chase after Toad when the slimy villain discovers his escape. As he looks for Toad, Quicksilver also notices Cyclops’ escape and the speedster tries to reason with Scott so that they will not have to battle.

However Cyclops does not buy Quicksilver’s story and the two mutants battle it out until Scott eventually defeats Pietro.

Meanwhile, Magneto punishes Toad cruelly for allowing Cyclops to escape.

The main storyline ends with the Avengers showing up!

The comic then shifts back to the origin story of Iceman. Cyclops comes to Bobby’s prison cell and frees the mutant, but Iceman is wary of Scott’s help and attacks Cyclops in fear.

Iceman tries to run away as Cyclops and the angry mob chase after him, but Cyclops and Iceman end up battling until they are too weary to continue. The mob reaches the two young mutants and the issue ends with a man pointing a gun to our two heroes’ heads.

Review:

This issue is really great. I have nothing bad to say about it. I really enjoyed Quicksilver and Cyclops’ battle. Like always, Quicksilver is conflicted about whether to fight Cyclops, but he needs to in the end. The Quicksilver-Cyclops fight had some of my favorite fighting panels I’ve seen so far.

I also liked seeing Magneto harshly punishing Toad and Toad reacting badly. Toad is getting frustrated with how Magneto treats him and I bet the two villains will not stay allies for long.

My final favorite part of this issue was Cyclops’ fight with Iceman. That fight was also epic and the fight had added suspense because of the angry mob chasing them as well.

This issue basically consisted solely of two big fights, but both fights were really great. Cyclops got to be cool and awesome in this issue and this issue is definitely one of my favorite issues that I have read so far.

One final note:

1. This is a terrible plan that Cyclops has.
