Red Smile: An Original Comic Written By Me!

I just realized today that I don’t think I have ever plugged my upcoming debut comic series called Red Smile on this blog so I thought that today is the day to do it! Red Smile will be a four issue horror comic mini series.

The series is about a detective named Holly Decker whose parents were murdered by a serial killer called the Red Smile when she was young. The first issue takes place years later when Holly is an adult and is attending a retirement party for her boyfriend’s dad. While at the party, a large horde of people wearing smiley face masks appear outside of the house they are in and the masked people begin killing the party guests in the same way that the Red Smile kills people.

Holly is then forced to figure out a way to get out of this situation as she tries to discover who these people are and why they are attacking the party.

The whole series is written by me and all of the art for the series is being done by Joseba Morales. Issue 1 is more than half way done and should be out by the end of the summer! I’ll post updates on the Red Smile series as it progresses!

I know this comic series is not X-Men related and this is an X-Men blog, but this project is very close to my heart and it is comic related so I thought I’d share the comic creation process with you guys occasionally while still mainly reviewing the entire Uncanny X-Men series.

What do you guys think of the cover for Red Smile Issue #1?

  1. I didn’t know you made comics. I’m fantasied about doing the same, shame I’m such a shoddy artist! The premise for your series sounds amazing, I’ll be checking it out for sure.

    • I just started working on this mini series in late Spring. I thought it would be impossible for me to make a comic because I can’t draw, but I found an amazing artist who wanted to work with me and now the series is coming to fruition. If you have a story you want to make into a comic and are serious about doing it you should go for it! If you search long enough online or at a convention or elsewhere for an artist, eventually you’ll find the right fit for your project. And I appreciate the support! I’ll keep on posting updates about the comic as it continues to develop!

I remember hearing about your comic ideas and wondered why we hadn’t heard of them until now! Looks quite interesting! Keep us posted!

Red Smile is a great name for a villain! It’s memorable and so are the masks the copy cats are wearing. The cover looks good. Looking forward to this. =)

  4. It looks classic! I salute you for doing the sort of work of which people often dream. Many people read comic books, poetry, novels, etc. and would love to write them…but never get around to it. You have “gotten around to it”. Congrats!

    • Thanks! It has been a dream of mine for a long time. I love writing and comics and horror and I am so happy that I can put all of these passions together with this project.
